Well, hello! Welcome to my blog. Many moons ago (a couple years’ worth), I started this site as a place to chronicle my experiences while trying to become a writer. But in my quest for writerly-improvement, I ran across many different pieces of advice about exactly what a “writer” blog should be.

“Just be yourself!”

“Nobody cares about what you think, only what you can give them.”

“Find a niche and be the best at that.”

“Target other writers with writing advice.”

“Don’t target writers. They don’t read, silly! Only target readers!”

All of this conflicting advice was enough to send me into a tail-spin. I pretty much tried conforming to all of the advice at one point or another, but it only managed to make me feel disingenuous. And then what happened? I stopped writing! This blog became a ghost town. Maybe I shouldn’t say ghost town because I think those are super cool–something my blog was definitely NOT!

Now I’m ready to start again. I deleted most of the past posts and pages (way too many p’s for one sentence). I redesigned the site as a fresh start. And away we go!

Basically, I should’ve stuck with the first piece of advice I received. “Just be yourself.” So that’s what I’m going to do.

It might be a party of one around here, but it’ll be a fun party. 😉 I’m geeky. I’m odd. I have a twisted sense of humor some times. Maybe that will be entertaining to other people. Maybe not. Either way, I want to use this blog as a place to not only express myself but to cultivate a habit of writing on a regular basis.

Will it conform to what a writer’s blog “should” be? Eh. I’m not going to worry about it. I’m just going to be me. You’re welcome to come along for the ride.
