My name is Kelli and I live in southern Arizona. My work days are spent sitting at a computer, writing code for web applications. I like my job and I feel very grateful to have it, but I usually feel like I’m just passing time until I can get to what I really love to do. Right now that includes a combination of spending time with my family, writing, photography, watching geeky TV shows and movies, and playing games (of both the video and board variety).
For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had stories floating around in my head. Most nights, I fall asleep (or don’t — I’m a frequent insomniac) as I act out a new story in my head. Does that make me crazy? Oh, well. I’m good with that.
Unfortunately, I’ve wasted a lot of time allowing my self-doubt to stop me from actually writing down these adventures. After all, who — besides me — would want to read them?
Then came a fateful day when I was hiking with my mom and my sister. I made a comment about how I was thinking about writing a book and, instead of laughing, they were really excited about the idea and asked me about the characters and story plot. I’m not sure why I was so surprised, because I have an extremely supportive family, but that show of support was the push that I needed to actually start writing.
I’ve spent the last few years writing really terrible stuff (hey…it’s practice!) and reading everything I could get my hands on regarding the craft of writing. I’m at a point now where I think I can produce something that doesn’t stink like the bed of a garbage truck after a long day under a blazing sun.
About the Site
I initially started this site so I would have a forum to post updates for a writing challenge. Now, I envision this site as a place for me to hang out (party of one over here) and write about whatever pops into my head. It’ll most likely be a hodge-podge of evolving scribbles and I’m okay with that. For now.
